Atlanta Drilling Boreholes Zimbabwe

Growing up in Zimbabwe, water challenges were not smething we ever thought of or really thought we would experience. We had flowing tap water in the urban areas and wells in our rural areas. Boreholes were for the really rich who didn’t know what to do with thier money. At least that’s what we thought.

Nowadays, tap water availability is celebrated almost as much as electricity’s arrival and some neighbourhoods haven’t seen tap water in years. Paired with the really late arrival of this year’s rains (if the rain we are experiencing is here to stay) most ZImbabweans have turned to boreholes.

Boreholes are about more than just shortages. While a bit pricey, these are 10 to 15 year assets that won’t cost much to run and the long term benefits are just great. Even if you live in an area with good, reliable tap water, the borehole can present huge savings on your municipal water bill.

The key to a borehole being a good asset is buying good from the start. Using a reliable service provider with good after sale services.

But before drilling a borehole, it’s important that you find out if there’s water in your yard. This is called Siting. For this you will need get a geohydrologist. You will also need to look at the choice of driller, the pump installer, and your municipality by-laws.  In some cases Municipalities will have by-laws regarding boreholes and you may need to register your borehole depending on its use. It is important to know for your area.

These are some of the benefits of drilling a borehole on your premises:

Borehole Water is rich in minerals

One of the great things about getting water from the ground is that you get water that is full of minerals. A borehole is an excellent way to access pure and natural underground water.

Underground water is chemical free

When it comes to underground water, you don’t even have to worry about chemicals. The water comes out fresh and contains no chemicals.

Increases property value

The value of your house can simply go up by offering future buyers savings if you have drilled a borehole.

Decrease the demand on the municipal water supply

Having your own borehole drilled will help decrease the demand on municipal water in your area.

It will give you the garden you desire

One of the many reasons to drill a borehole is the freedom in knowing that you can water your garden without worrying about the municipal bill. Also with the worldwide water conservation drive it makes a lot more sense to water your garden with borehole water than with treated water.

Did Someone Say Pool?

We all know African summers can be very hot and unforgiving and this year’s Zim summer is one of those. How many times have you thought of taking a dip. Now imagine owning a pool and having to rely on municipal water. Imagine the water bill from the municipality when you are running a pool. It all screams Borehole.

Borehole water costs much less than municipal water.

If you are going to drink the water, use it for animal consumption or even fill a pool with it, consider having a Water Quality test done. This should be done periodically, preferably annually.

Consuming unsafe water can result in diseases such as cholera and typhoid. We have seen or heard of breakouts of these in Zimbabwe in the past few years and we can play our part to prevent it in our homes and communities.
